You've named the actual story here, Bobby, and I agree with your take. Mojtaba's legitimacy is the one thread the IRGC is holding on to so their base doesn't lose confidence in them. Where I'm still stuck is on Mojtaba himself. I can understand keeping him isolated and out of view during a transition. What I cannot understand is that there is not even a televised address. Written statements are read out by another voice, and I do not know why. Abdulmalik al-Houthi, when he disappears for months at a time, still surfaces in recorded televised addresses. The IRGC has failed to produce even that.
